Most know me for my adventure cycling background—my history of cross-continental trips and unsupported non-stop rides. Yet, the reality is the thing that draws me to endurance cycling has always been a deep-seated love of exploration, and a passion for the great outdoors.

The Expedition Journals is a blog full of adventure stories: from weekend micro-adventures to multi-day marathons. The experiences include adventure races, kayaking expeditions, mountaineering challenges, and bicycle tours—all journeys of personal discovery and excitement.

I have a favourite quote from Jack Kerouac's On the Road:
There was nowhere to go but everywhere, so just keep on rolling under the stars...

There is so much to discover. That is why my passion for expeditions and adventures is never-ending, and why I try to introduce as many means of travel and exploration as possible. Variety is the spice of life.

I have never been one to be tied down. I grew up sailing, orienteering, mountain biking, camping, coastal rowing, and any other outdoor pursuit I could master. In my late teens, I became a National Champion Coastal Rower; before then turning to cycling as my main sporting challenge.

It was on two wheels that I affirmed my deep-seated passion for taking the road less travelled; for finding unexplored places and meeting new people. During this time, I documented the great journey through lifeinthesaddle.cc — now one of the UK's Top Ten Independent Cycling Blogs.

My endurance fitness, travelling experience, and knowledge of outdoor adventure crafts developed during cycling adventures; allowing me to explore into new sports and disciplines. A keen desire to learn new skills, and a strong academic background has also helped evolve my inter-sport adaptability.

The Expedition Journals is all about jumping between sports, keeping it fresh, and finding new ways to explore the great outdoors.
