The VOITED Outdoor Changing Robe & Dry Coat lives in my car (or bike pannier) and comes with me on almost every adventure. Perfect for when you need to warm up after a cold water swim, stay comfortable as you unload a sea kayak, discreetly change out of your kit after a muddy trail run, or just keep cosy when you start a drive in freezing conditions – the VOITED Outdoor Change Robe is a versatile and indispensable insulating layer that shields you from the elements, allowing you to enjoy your outdoor adventures. 

I have used many weatherproof changing robes, but the new V2 VOITED Change Robe sits on its own pedestal thanks to unique features that allow it to perform exceptionally well.

Three-Layer Fabric Design

The outer fabric of the VOITED Change Robe is a 100 percent recycled 50D durable Ripstop Repreve® material that sheds water thanks to an eco-friendly DWR coating. A quilted mid-layer of 3D Synthetic Featherlight recycled fibre insulation then keeps the warmth in and the cold out. On the inside, the change robe is lined with a soft quick-drying absorbent microfibre fleece, with an additional VOITED CloudTouch® insulation panel around the lumbar area for added warmth.

The complete package provides a robust, warm, water-resistant layer that is invaluable for changing and staying comfortable on outdoor pursuits, camping trips and at the beach. The added mid-layer fibre fill and the CloudTouch® panel provide notably more insulation than most other changing robes.

Hooded Protection

The hood on the VOITED Outdoor Changing Robe is another highlight. The adjustable ‘storm-proof’ cover is waterproof and provides excellent protection against winter weather and windchill – we all know it is vital to keep your head warm and out of the elements, and this does a great job. 

Useful Pocketing

Finally, the pocketing on the VOITED Outdoor Changing Robe has been well thought-out for useful storage and comfort. There are zippered chest level hand pockets, with inner linings for warmth and comfort. There are two front cargo flap pockets for accessories and snacks. Finally, there is an internal valuables pocket with an integrated slit for headphone cables. Plenty of places to stash your hands, and accessories that you want to keep close to hand.

Fresh from the mountains of Sri Lanka, this is my review of the versatile and sure-footed Merrell MQM 3 Mid GORE-TEX hiking boots.  Merrell shoes have been a trustworthy walking partner of mine for several years now; with previous models reviewed here on The Expedition Journals including the MQM Flex 2.0 and ChopRock Aqua Shoes . The brand's footwear is comfortable, durable, and provides a reassuring foothold on a multitude of terrains. 2021 started with a lot more hiking than normal. A fall on ice on Christmas Day morning enforced a need to take four weeks off from cycling, kayaking, or sailing—due to a broken elbow.
