Kit Focus — Aquapac Extreme Pro DockSystem Waterproof Phone and VHF Cases

Aquapac Extreme Pro DockSystem Waterproof Phone and VHF Cases
I have been using Aquapac waterproof phone cases for years. I bought the first one over 20 years ago when I started sailing, and have since been using them in preference to other waterproof phone and VHF cases.

The quality of Aquapac's seals and materials are far superior to the competition, in my experience. So, whilst many phones and handheld VHF radios are now submersible, a waterproof case like those from Aquapac is still an essential piece of kit to protect your electronics from salt corrosion, dust, and mud.

The new Aquapac Pro series is a great development of the already well-refined product. The critical difference is the new Pro DockSystem, which allows you to clip the case to belts, rucksack straps, fixed mounting points, and even handlebars. It allows you to store the case easily and safely, without the need for tethers, pockets, or pouches.

For kayaking, sailing, hiking, and even cycling, this new product development is an excellent feature. The DockSystem uses a secure slide-in docking clip that can be rotated to any of seven fixed positions around the clockface thanks to the in-built ratchet positioner. To release it, you just rotate through 180-degrees and slide out of the dock.

The rest of the case is similar to the Aquapac cases that I have known and praised for a long time. They function flawlessly in extreme conditions—letting you use your phone through the case without too much reduced functionality; face recognition still works for example, but fingerprint ID obviously does not. My only quibble with the new Aquapac Extreme Pro Waterproof Cases is that you cannot use your rear-facing phone camera to capture those epic waves or storms.

These Aquapac phone and VHF radio cases are IPX8 waterproof, which means that they are watertight to a depth of 30 feet (10 metres) for a continuous submersion of 30 minutes. If it takes you that long to come to the surface during a kayaking roll then you are in serious trouble…

To sum up, Aquapac cases are used by emergency services, rescue teams, and military personnel worldwide; they have been for years, and I am sure they will continue to be the preferred choice for many more. The new Aquapac Extreme Pro DockSystem Waterproof Phone and VHF Cases are an evolution of the already excellent product, which allows easier and faster access to your electronics when you need them most.
